Meetings are an essential part of any research project. It allows a supervisor to get an understanding of the approach followed by the student and it also gives the student the opportunity to highlight any issues or concerns.
The minutes have been submitted and the actions from the meeting have been allocated. You can modify the minutes below simply by starting to edit them. When you update the minutes this creates a new version of the minutes and all members of the meeting will receive a task to accept the new minutes. You cannot add another attendee to the meeting or keep adding actions as this doesn’t make sense 😀. If this is required simply have another meeting.

Meetings are an essential part of any research project. It allows a supervisor to get an understanding of the approach followed by the student and it also gives the student the opportunity to highlight any issues or concerns. NETSEARCH includes a version control system for conducting and capturing the minutes of various meetings. Only members of the application can be logged as attending the meeting and all attendees have the right to modify the minutes.
NETSEARCH provides support for the construction of the minutes, for example, if you want to attribute a statement to a member of the meeting, if you type “(“ an interface will pop up to allow you to select all active members. Once the initial minutes are created no other members can be added as attendees and no other actions can be assigned. All actions are integrated with the task manager and when the minutes are submitted they will appear for the appropriate member to complete.

Projects are key to help your organise your work. You can have multiple projects with multiple supervisors. If you have two projects with the same supervisor only one can be available or active. This helps your supervisor be more productive to help guide your research journey. The possible project classifications are described below.
Colour Code | Classification | Project Description |
---|---|---|
Active Project | This classification indicates the current project that you are working on. NETSEARCH uses the active project to automatically populate metrics describing how you are getting on. | |
Available Project | This indicates a project that has been approved by a supervisor and is ready for you to engage with. | |
Awaiting Approval | Your suggested supervisor is a registered member and has been invited to supervise your project. The supervisor needs to accept your project. | |
Approved, not active | As you can only have one project in an available or active state with a supervisor, any additional projects with the same supervisor remain in this category. | |
Completed Project | This classification is used when you have completed a project. | |
Deleted Project | This classification is used when you have deleted a project. |

If you accept a paper recommendation, this paper will appear as one of the searches for your project. You will be able to work with the paper following the same structured approach that should be followed for each of the papers found through various searches. It should be noted that your supervisor has recommended the paper, so it should help you on your research journey.

NETSEARCH provides the facility to record minutes of meetings. When creating a meeting you can add attendees that have registered accounts with NETSEARCH. People who don’t have an account are invited to register. Actions can be assigned to people who are attending the meeting and are only assigned to one person. Once the meeting is created you cannot add more attendees or add extra actions as neither would make sense!
At NETSEARCH we believe in transparency, everybody who attends the meeting has full access to modify the minutes of the meeting, which should be an account of what was discussed. When the minutes are modified NETSEARCH makes sure that the full history of minutes are accessible to avoid disputes. If there are minutes available for a particular project the Minutes Archive button will activate

NETSEARCH is designed to try and help you not get lost in hyperspace. Research is a difficult and challenging task, we believe that it would be cool to be able to offer you papers based on how other students have rated the same article. Using NETSEARCH your search can be distributed across multiple repositories. These repositories do a great job of retrieving results, we simply reorganise these results based on how the community of researchers have reviewed the papers with different keywords.
The order of your repositories are important. NETSEARCH conducts queries across each of your selected repositories and then checks the community based score, highlighting the most popular articles as identified by the community, the remainder of the papers will be populated from the first repository and then subsequent repositories.
To make sure that your interfaces are easy to follow, NETSEARCH will return a maximum of 15 papers for each search term. Don't worry if you need more papers for the same search term, just search again and NETSEARCH will handle the results for you.
© NETSEARCH 2022 - Standing on the shoulders of giants
NETSEARCH allows you to conduct searches across multiple repositories. The current available repositories allow you to conduct searches across Science Direct, Springer, and IEEE. You need to make sure that your institute has access to these repositories, alternatively NETSEARCH also allows you to conduct searches across open access papers from Springer and IEEE.
You can add as many of the available repositories to your profile as you want and NETSEARCH will conduct a federated search across all selected repositories.
© NETSEARCH 2022 - Don't get lost in Hyperspace
If you would like to add your research interests that would be great. The research interests are not required to conduct searches but they can provide some interesting perspectives for researchers at NETSEARCH to be able to understand the impact of your research interests on how you are evaluating research papers. This will help us build a better search engine to help you progress.

NETSEARCH provides a research platform that supports students conducting research and supervisors supervising projects. The SaaS platform is designed to create a feature-rich learning ecosystem. Custom solutions are also available through our corporate learning platform.
NETSEARCH provides a simple interface to allow you to manage your projects. When you create your project, you are required to invite a supervisor to manage the process. The application provides functionality to ensure that there is transparency for the student-supervisor relationship.
NETSEARCH provides a simple interface to allow you to conduct searches across many academic repositories. NETSEARCH takes into consideration how other students using the same keywords have interpreted papers when finding you suitable papers. The system tracks your searches so you don’t need to worry about it! The application guides you through a four step process to evaluate each of the papers found. The steps are as follows:
NETSEARCH keeps track of your engagement and colour codes your progress as seen.
NETSEARCH tracks your engagement to maximise your efforts and ensure that your work is progressing. There are many visuals provided to highlight the research approach that you are following.
Research projects are constructed from many tiny tasks. NETSEARCH provides a simple interface to management tasks. Tasks are dynamically added through various engagements within the system from:

NETSEARCH provides a simple interface to allow you to manage multiple student projects. As a supervisor you are required to approve a project before the student can start work. The application provides functionality to ensure that there is transparency between the student-supervisor relationship.
As a supervisor it can be difficult to monitor and track how a student is progressing within a research project. NETSEARCH provides a simple interface that enforces a student to follow a structured approach when evaluating research papers. The student must for each paper:
write keywords describing an abstract,
rate the relevance of each paper according to their search criteria,
submit a review of each paper
Each of these actions are monitored and visualised to highlight the progress of the student. Vertical lines present indicate that the student is not specding sufficient time completing tasks (highlighted in visual on the right).
It can be challenging to monitor the progress of a single student conducting research, however when a supervisor is required to supervise multiple students a comparison across all students is impossible. NETSEARCH addresses this challenge by creating suitable visuals using particle spring graphs to show:
the amount of reviews being conducted by the full student population
an evaluation of the papers that the students are identifying. Each student node (circle) is connected to papers through submitted reviews. The colour of the connection illustrates the relevence of the paper as rated by the student
the progress of the student is automatically highlight and updated through a simple colour coded notation (blue nodes indicating that students are progressing fine, and red nodes indicate that students are struggling)
papers are represented as grey nodes and the visual shows the number of connections that a paper has
As the visual is a spring graph, clustering becomes highly visible, which can identify citation sharing, plagiarism, and students who are completely disconnected from the population.
There are many repositories that students use when conducting research and many different keywords will lead to the identification of the same research paper. NETSEARCH collates this information to highlight the keywords that led to the identification of a published paper. When you click on a bar in the chart the application gives you access to each of the populations submitted reviews and the success rate of a student including the paper in a literature review.
This facilitates a supervisor to recommend a suitable paper that has been highlighted by a community of students as being critical for a given search term.
NETSEARCH provides a simple interface that allows a supervisor direct access to view all the submitted reviews from their students. The interface allows a supervisor to add comments and tasks associated with the submitted review. There is a link provided to the published article.
Conducting a literature review can be a difficult task for students to complete. NETSEARCH is designed to make that process a little easier and to provide transparency around the research process followed. A supervisor is capable of generating digital reports at any stage through the process, which can facilitate in conducting meetings with students. There are three types of reports:
Submitted Review(s): provides a detailed analysis of the process taking by the student when completing the review. NETSEARCH highlights when a student has not followed a suitable process.
Progress Report: this report gives a detailed breakdown of the complete process followed by the student, including how the student reacted when a supervisor recommended a paper, task completion rates, and paper engagement rates.
Supervisor Engagement: provides a digital report of the supervision process followed. This report highlights the number of meetings held, tasks assigned and papers recommended throughout the process.
As these reports can be created at any stage throughout the process it provides a platform to ensure that there is transparency between for the approach followed
